What is CBT?

Spiral Pamela O Hara

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based therapy that explores the relationship between our thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and behaviours. Sometimes patterns that were once helpful can begin to keep us stuck, contributing to difficulties such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and trauma-related difficulties.

CBT can help you develop a better understanding of these patterns, learn practical strategies to manage distress and make changes that support your wellbeing. My approach to CBT is collaborative, compassionate and tailored to your individual needs, recognising that our difficulties often make sense in the context of our experiences and circumstances.

What Is CFT?

Compassion Focused Therapy

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) is an approach that helps people develop a kinder, more understanding relationship with themselves. It is particularly helpful for people who struggle with shame, feelings of inadequacy or a harsh inner critic.

Rather than focusing solely on changing thoughts, CFT helps us understand how our brains have evolved, how our experiences shape us and why we sometimes find ourselves stuck in patterns that create suffering. By developing compassion for us and our difficulties, we can begin to reduce shame, build emotional resilience and create lasting change.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy designed to help people process traumatic or distressing experiences that may continue to affect them in the present. Difficult experiences can sometimes become "stuck", leading to symptoms such as anxiety, flashbacks, emotional overwhelm, self-doubt or a persistent sense of threat.

EMDR helps the brain process these experiences in a way that reduces their emotional impact. Many people find that memories become less distressing, allowing them to move forward without feeling held back by the past. EMDR can be used for a range of difficulties, including complex trauma, PTSD, phobias, anxiety and experiences that continue to influence how you see yourself and the world.

Online Therapy

I offer therapy online via secure video appointments, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Research suggests that online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy for many people. It can also provide greater flexibility, remove the need for travel and make therapy more accessible for those with busy schedules, health difficulties or caring responsibilities.

All you need is a private space, a stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone.

Fees and How To Book

Therapy sessions are £70 per 60-minute session.

To arrange an initial consultation or enquire about working together, please complete the Contact Me form and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

I also offer a limited number of reduced-fee appointments on a sliding scale. If cost is a barrier to accessing therapy, please feel free to discuss this when you get in touch.
